Does the mistakes from your past have a hard grip on you?
Quit looking to the past as evidence that you can’t accomplish the things that you want to. Your past “failures” don’t define you. So, why do we think they do? There is no upside in ruminating about them incessantly.
It’s time to reframe your thoughts. Let’s start with something I heard from a comedian — it really stuck with me because I found his simple + catchy phrase to be something quite profound. The comedian, Steve Harvey, said:
“In every lesson there’s a blessin’!”
I love this! I see this as a way to reframe your past experiences. This is where you get to look to the past and see how you can learn from it. What are the lessons you can learn from your mistakes? I see this as a much better alternative than beating yourself up over and over and over again for something you can’t change (what’s already happened). We are human after all.
It’s time to tell those negative, self-deprecating thoughts in your head, that you keep thinking over and over again,: “LET ME GO!”
Perspective is everything because it’s the lens in which we see the world, ourselves included. I see every experience I have been through as a necessary and perfect step for my growth and learning. Not one is a wasted experience, no matter how hard and painful it may have been. Looking through the lens of gratitude to see who I have BE-come as a result of a culmination of those experiences is a much better way I have learned.
Connect with heaven – what do you hear God telling you.
Look into your heart – see your goodness, your beauty.
Jot down your thoughts – see how you can start reframing your past experiences
Schedule a therapy session and/or a coaching session.
Set your ego to the side because when we let our ego in the way it messes everything up! I love this simple acronym: EGO = Edging God Out.
Connect with God. See that He is cheering you on and doesn’t want you harping on yourself and defining yourself by your past mistakes.
Embrace yourself with compassion + love + kindness because you matter! Believe that you were created for greatness. Your dreams are on the other side of belief!
You’ve got this, sister!
