Cultivating a Life You Love
In this day and age of social media – Facebook, Instagram or whatever social platform you peruse, it’s easy to compare our lives to others’ lives and we can quickly find ourselves in a state of ingratitude.
I’ve talked to so many people that see a direct link in their use of social media and their state of mind/happiness. It can affect the way you feel because of the thoughts you are having about what you see – you start comparing and wondering why your life isn’t as picture perfect as what you see as you endlessly scroll.
It’s a New Year. It’s a new decade. And today is a new day and you get to choose what you want to create. New opportunities are both exciting, but also scary because we don’t like to be uncomfortable doing things out of our “comfort zone.” The truth is that the “comfort zone” really isn’t a comfortable space to hang out in. God created us to learn and grow and create. The comfort zone is unfulfilling, boring and stagnant, and honestly we won’t be able to cultivate a life that we love if we stay in that space.
It’s so important to know that the key to cultivating a life you love is be grateful in all things. A grateful person, no matter the current circumstances in their life, can find things they are grateful for. Cultivating a life you love means starting with being grateful for the things that you have right this minute.
Take a moment and write down some of the things that you are grateful for right now. When we shift our mindset to a state of gratitude it literally shifts our focus in a creative and happy space and our energy is high and inspired. Think of it’s opposite, if you are coming from a space of ingratitude your focus is in a heavy space and your energy is low and stagnant and it could be easy to feel hopeless.
What space to do you want to live in?
I choose to live in a space of gratitude because it’s such a joyful and creative space to BE. I have been able to create so many wonderful things in my life because I chose to be grateful in all things. And I’m grateful God has reminded me to be grateful in all things – the good, the hard, the happy and the sad. I am who I am today because of all of it, and for that I am grateful. Truly, I am grateful.
And hey, just keepin’ it real with you, this doesn’t mean my life is problem-free. Who has that life? Ummmmm. the short and long answer to that one would be NOBODY. We all have trials, tribulations, challenges, heartaches, disappointments, etc, the difference is how do you CHOOSE to look at things? You can be like an Eeyore that walks around with a dark cloud looming over you feeling bad for yourself, constantly attending a pity party for yourself and incessantly complaining…..OR you can choose to grow some deep roots of gratitude and just you watch what will blossom as result of choosing gratitude.

Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness and in creating a life you love.
Here’s a truth bomb for you… you can cultivate a life you love right this very minute by reflecting on or writing down some or all of your blessings. Your current circumstances don’t even have to change in order for you to have a life that you love! Did you know this?!!! I think it’s important to note that it’s not the circumstances of our life that creates our happiness, it’s our thoughts about it. Gratitude is our thoughts – our thoughts are the lens in which see things. Once you are in this mind space you feel so much inspiration to cultivate more goodness in your life as you co-create with a loving God that wants you to live your best life by living to your fullest potential.
Men are that they might have joy. God want us to have joy. No wonder He commands us to be grateful.
It all starts with being grateful.
Here’s to cultivating a life you truly love in this new year. It can start right now.
Until next time,
Tammy
