Your thoughts are so incredibly POWERFUL!
Do you realize how powerful you are? Really, I’m not kidding.
I want you to take a long hard look at where your brain is hanging out. What are the thoughts that are hanging out, swirling around in there and those that are on damn default? Seriously, get a piece of paper and start writing those thoughts down and please don’t judge yourself for having them.
Interesting to see them on paper, right?!
As a life coach I teach and coach people that aren’t getting the results that they want in their life. I know that I add a tremendous amount of value to my clients through coaching and the tools I teach are life-changing.
Did you know that you create your life by the thoughts that you think? Yes, it’s true.
Let’s take a look at that for a minute…
People think that it’s the circumstances of their life that is the problem. This is simply not true, no matter what the circumstance. The circumstance is 100% neutral.
Our circumstances are neutral only until we attach a thought to it. Our thoughts create our emotions/feelings, and our feelings drive our actions and our actions generate the results we get in life. (This is what we call the Model at The Life Coach School).
Now, stop for second and take a look at a thought that you have on repeat/default. What is that thought? Write it down.
Say for example that your thought is : “I’m fat.”
Here’s what a model could look like:
Circumstance: My Body
Thought: I’m fat
Action: Negative self-talk, overeat, don’t workout, complain to other people about my body
Result: Weight doesn’t change, still think I’m fat
If you are frustrated with the results you are getting in your life, you must examine your brain. You see, your thoughts are creating the results you are getting.
If you continue to view the world through a filter created by past events, then you are allowing your past to control and dictate both your present and your future.
Thoughts are made up of fixed and limiting beliefs, negative ideas that have become entrenched in your thinking.
Our thoughts can be pernicious because if you treat them as fact, you will not seek, receive or process new information, which undermines your plans for change. You have to be willing to acknowledge that this is what is keeping you stuck.
Awareness is the first step. I like how Dr. Phil says: “you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.”
If you are willing to look at your thoughts by challenging them and testing their validity – by truly asking yourself “is this thought really true?” I ask you to be honest with yourself.
A new thought that you can believe can really shift things because it will generate a new emotion that will motivate you to take different actions. What is a result in your life that you are wanting? Focus on that.
I’m a big believer that we create the life that we want. I’m living proof.
